The Pure Harvest: Advanced Ceramics and the Zero-Contamination Kitchen
Welcome back to the Project Clean Up (PCU) weekly newsletter! Throughout October, we built the "Smart & Responsive" city out of dynamic glass, memory metals, and acoustic metamaterials. We engineered the macro-infrastructure of our future.
Today, we bring the focus back into your home, beginning a new series on Biomimetics & Consumer Alternatives. We are looking at the materials we touch, wear, and eat from every single day.
No matter how pure the food from our urban aeroponic farms (Issue 58) might be, the final step before it enters our bodies usually involves a frying pan. For the last seventy years, that pan has likely been coated in Teflon (a notorious "forever chemical") or made of stainless steel alloys that leach heavy metals.
This week, we are stripping the toxic chemistry out of our kitchens. We explore Advanced Technical Ceramics—the indestructible, perfectly inert materials ensuring a zero-contamination diet.
