The legacy power grid requires perfect, real-time balance. Supply must exactly match demand every single second. Historically, grid operators achieved this by firing up massive "peaker plants"—dirty, natural-gas-burning facilities that only turn on when everyone runs their air conditioners on a hot July afternoon.
In 2026, we are replacing the physical peaker plant with a digital one. By using advanced algorithms to link thousands of apartment basement batteries together, we create a Virtual Power Plant (VPP). This week, we explore how software is transforming passive renters into active energy producers.
