Welcome back to the Project Clean Up (PCU) weekly newsletter! Over the past few weeks, we engineered the decentralized energy grid, placing safe battery banks in apartment basements and linking them via Virtual Power Plants.

But what about the apartment building itself?

The built environment is responsible for nearly 40% of global carbon emissions, with traditional Portland cement alone accounting for a staggering 8%. Modern buildings are essentially massive, rigid carbon debts. Furthermore, they are packed with toxic fiberglass insulation and polyurethane foams that will sit in landfills for centuries once the building is demolished.

If we want a truly sustainable future, we cannot just change what happens inside the walls. We have to change the walls themselves. This week, we explore Biogenic Construction Materials—buildings that are grown, not manufactured, acting as massive carbon sinks.
