The Circular Tap: Decentralizing the Urban Water Grid

Welcome back to the Project Clean Up (PCU) weekly newsletter! Over the past month, we have transformed the theoretical apartment building. We placed a sodium-ion Virtual Power Plant in the basement and grew the walls themselves out of bio-cement and mycelium.

But a building is not just a shelter; it is an active metabolism. And the most critical fluid in that metabolism is water.

For the last century, our urban water model has been strictly linear and highly inefficient: we pump perfectly purified, drinking-grade water into a building, use it once to flush a toilet or run a washing machine, and then pump it miles away to a massive, centralized treatment plant.

This week, we complete the triad of decentralized infrastructure (Waste, Energy, Water) by introducing The Smart Water Grid and Point-of-Origin Greywater Processing. We are turning the apartment building into its own water recycling facility.
