The Slag Mine: AI Brokerage and the Hunt for Rare Earths

Welcome back to the Project Clean Up (PCU) weekly newsletter! Last week, we introduced the concept of Industrial Symbiosis—rewiring factories so that the waste of one becomes the fuel for another.

But how does a steel foundry know that a neighboring electronics manufacturer desperately needs its exact byproduct? The answer is the Algorithmic Commodity Exchange. We are treating industrial waste data with the same high-frequency precision as the stock market.

However, we are pushing this concept far beyond trading steam or wastewater. Today, we pull our focus firmly back to Advanced Materials. We are looking at the heavy, toxic byproduct of metal refining—industrial slag—and using next-generation chemistry to extract the critical elements required for fusion shielding and solid-state motors.
